A unique piece of New Zealand's heritage, intricately captured on a fused and slumped glass canvas. This design captures the majesty of the Kererū, or New Zealand Wood Pigeon, as it soars upwards towards the towering Kauri Tree, reigning supreme over the forest beneath.

The Kererū, with its unmistakable large size, is often felt before it's seen. As it flies by, the resonating "whoop whoop whoop" of its wing beats can be felt deep within one's chest, a testament to its presence and significance in the New Zealand ecosystem. The Kauri Tree, a giant among trees, stands as a sentinel of our ancient forests, witnessing eons of history and representing strength and endurance.

Our glassware is a testament to the beauty of this relationship, and to the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into each piece. Starting with a hand-cut 5mm glass base, our artisans screen print the dynamic Kererū and Kauri design. The deep violet streaks, inspired by the Kererū's iridescent purple-green feathers, are created using colored glass, adding depth and contrast to the piece. This piece is then fired in an electric kiln where the glass is fused together and gently slumped into molds, giving it a delicate concave form that captures light in mesmerizing ways.

Complementing this is a stand, designed to evoke the curves of the graceful Ponga Koru, ensuring that your piece is displayed in the grandeur it deserves. We laser-cut the stand in house from New Zealand made board.
